Who We Are

MediMigrant Compass e.V. is a vibrant, cross-cultural nonprofit organization founded in 2019 by Solace Yaa Gawu—a certified nurse with Ghanaian roots and a deep commitment to health equity, education, and social inclusion. What began as a grassroots initiative focused on African communities has grown into a global movement, now powered by active members from South America, Madagascar, Eastern Europe, and beyond.

We are proud to count over 150 active members in Germany, including nurses, physicians, social workers, educators, and dedicated volunteers. In Africa, we collaborate with more than 3,000 individuals and Community Health Workers across Ghana and Nigeria, delivering life-saving education and medical support in underserved regions.

Our Core Mission

We promote health, education, and social participation—bridging continents and cultures to build a more inclusive, informed, and empowered global society.

Our work is rooted in two interconnected spheres:

In Germany

• Language acquisition and integration support
• Guidance in finding vocational training and university placements
• Internship placement for migrants interested in healthcare, medicine, or social work
• Psychosocial care, homework assistance, and empowerment programs
• Public symposia, job-search congresses, and educational events
• Awareness campaigns on the risks of irregular migration
• Targeted integration projects that foster community and belonging

In Africa (Ghana & Nigeria)

• Health education on preventable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney failure, and breast cancer
• Campaigns highlighting the dangers of irregular migration
• Mobile health outreach in rural areas
• Donations of medical equipment and supplies to local facilities
• Collaboration with Community Health Workers to build sustainable health systems

Why the Name Change?

As of 2024, our membership has become beautifully diverse—reflecting not only African heritage but also active engagement from individuals across South America, Madagascar, Eastern Europe, and other regions. To honor this evolution, we are transitioning from MyHealth MyAfrica Team e.V. to MediMigrant Compass e.V.—a name that better reflects our inclusive, global vision.

We are more than a team. We are a compass—guiding migrants, communities, and changemakers toward health, dignity, and opportunity.
